Welcome Law Librarians!

Welcome to the Encore Caucus! We are a group of long-time law librarians and AALL members, who are in the “later career” stage (looking ahead to the rewards of retirement) or who have already reached that milestone and transitioned into our post-employment lives. As you’ll see if you browse around our webpage, we enjoy online conversations (on such topics as travel and lifelong learning) and interesting programming (art, sports, history, etc.) During this stage of transition in our lives and careers, we are interested in continuing our connections with colleagues and contributing to AALL and the profession.

Perspectives

These articles are four reflections on retirement written by former AALL member Jean Holcomb, the retired director of King County Law Library, Seattle, WA. Her articles were originally posted on the blog of the Virginia Association of Law Libraries (VAL). She has given the Encore Caucus permission to post them on our webpage.

Advocacy

Check our the AALL Action Center for information about the legislative advocacy campaigns organized by AALL. The website contains information about advocating for access to government information, open government, privacy, and issues related to copyright and intellectual property. It also has sections on legal research competency and vendor relations.
The American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) is the only national association dedicated to the legal information profession and its professionals. Founded in 1906 on the belief that people—lawyers, judges, students, and the public—need timely access to relevant legal information to make sound legal arguments and wise legal decisions, its nearly 4,500 members are problem solvers of the highest order. AALL fosters the profession by offering its members knowledge, leadership, and community that make the whole legal system stronger. See AALL's Public Priorities for the 117th Congress for more information.
Are you subscribed to the Washington eBulletin? It is a monthly electronic newsletter containing information on the legislative advocacy campaigns organized by AALL. It's a great way to keep current about our latest advocacy issues!
